Last night I ate my last slice of Orange Pudding Cake, and I immediately started thinking about what kind of party I could host so that I have an excuse to make it again...yes, this recipe is really THAT GOOD! It's very rare that leftovers inspire such plotting on my part :-)Rosiecat24https://www.blogger.com/profile/07219527037186545061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6822839939627192494.post-55809301327674151492009-01-28T11:11:00.000-06:002009-01-28T11:11:00.000-06:00ttfn, my favorite part of making those butter cook...ttfn, my favorite part of making those butter cookies was shaping the dough into logs. I like getting my hands dirty ;-) Flavor-wise, I thought they were unusual and interesting. They probably won't make it into regular rotation in my baking (few things do!), but I can see myself getting a bizarre craving for a cookie with fresh thyme in it...

By the way, did you have a hard time prepping the fresh thyme for the cookies? The leaves are so small and I was afraid I'd get the little stick-like parts in my dough!

Ammie, I'm so glad you had a good time! As for that onion-garlic magic of yours...I think maybe you are being rather humble about your cooking genius. I was really surprised by the depth of flavor in the beans, like they were more than the sum of their parts. I ought to make slow-cooked beans more often!Rosiecat24https://www.blogger.com/profile/07219527037186545061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6822839939627192494.post-42489020255827098942009-01-28T08:54:00.000-06:002009-01-28T08:54:00.000-06:00I also had seconds! And I swear all I did to the garlic and onions was chop...
But in seriousness, I'm glad you had such a good time at your own party. I had a fantastic time, personally, and it's good to know that the birthday girl did also :) Good food, good people... Good times. Thank you so much for conceiving and hosting such a night!ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16220553595935499440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6822839939627192494.post-22691289006471777412009-01-27T21:04:00.000-06:002009-01-27T21:04:00.000-06:00so glad you tried those cookies!! i really enjoye...so glad you tried those cookies!! i really enjoyed them, too :)

sounds like such a wonderful celebration of friends, filled with much pleasure in the belly!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13898098819208716948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6822839939627192494.post-67300241793699837252009-01-27T13:37:00.000-06:002009-01-27T13:37:00.000-06:00D, I'm so glad SOMEONE had seconds of the cake ;-)...D, I'm so glad SOMEONE had seconds of the cake ;-) I really, really wish I had a microwave right now so I could zap the leftovers with some warmth.

And I'm glad you and Ian were able to make it! It wouldn't have been a party without you.

JD, you would have loved it--good food, good conversation, and happy people. But fear not, my friend! You will be invited to my graduation party back in Michigan, and you'd better give me a bone-crushing hug, the kind that squishes my internal organs and makes me squeak.Rosiecat24https://www.blogger.com/profile/07219527037186545061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6822839939627192494.post-22003135602661302942009-01-27T08:34:00.000-06:002009-01-27T08:34:00.000-06:00Wish Wife and I could have been there, sounds like...Wish Wife and I could have been there, sounds like it was a blast.JD @ run-thru-life.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11196732007819344467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6822839939627192494.post-71780553284417853522009-01-26T21:14:00.000-06:002009-01-26T21:14:00.000-06:00Beautiful post!
